Stewardess Hears Crying from Lavatory, Finds Kid Who Wasn’t on Passenger List — Story of the Day

Flight attendant Leslie, nursing a headache after a night out, is startled by a strange noise on her flight. When she investigates, she finds a young boy, Ben, crying in the bathroom. He explains that he’s lost and believes his grandmother will die without the medicine he’s carrying. Ben was separated from his family at the airport and mistakenly boarded the wrong plane.

Leslie learns that Ben’s mother neglects him, and he hopes to make her proud by delivering the medicine. As they land in LA, Leslie arranges for Ben to return to his grandmother in Seattle, while she heads home to Missoula to see her own ailing son, Joe.

When Leslie arrives home, she learns Joe is seriously ill. Ben later returns with his family, offering Leslie a check for over $100,000 to help with Joe’s treatment, a gesture they made after losing Ben’s grandmother. This generous act helps Joe recover, and Leslie arranges for Ben’s family to receive lifetime flight discounts as thanks.

The story highlights the need for emotional connection and the consequences of neglect. It also shows how kindness and generosity can change lives.
