Old Man Goes to Visit Daughter for His 80th Birthday, She Doesn’t Let Him Enter Her House – Story of the Day

Richard, visiting his daughter Deidre on his 80th birthday, is surprised when she sends him away in tears. Suspicious, Richard peeks inside her home and sees two men threatening Deidre over unpaid debts. They ransack her house, taking valuables to settle the debt with Mr. Marco, a dangerous loan shark.

Determined to help, Richard follows the men to a shady bar and offers to pay off Deidre’s $80,000 debt. Mr. Marco agrees but demands Richard smuggle cars across the Canadian border. Richard reluctantly complies, but a police dog alerts officers, forcing him into a dramatic car chase. Richard crashes the car into a river but escapes.

Later, with a mortgage on his house, Richard returns to the bar with Deidre to settle the debt. Chaos ensues when the police raid the bar, arresting Mr. Marco. Deidre, tearful, apologizes for hiding her financial struggles. Richard reassures her, “You’re not a failure. Everything’s going to be okay.”
