My Husband Destroyed My Favorite Dress, Saying I Looked Fat

I had a beautiful dress that I absolutely loved and felt confident wearing. Yesterday, I came home to find it burnt to ashes. When I confronted my husband, he bluntly said, “Your arms look too fat in it. I’m doing you a favor.”

I’m devastated and furious. My sister thinks I should teach him a harsh lesson, but I’m not sure how to proceed. Part of me wonders if he’s right and if I really looked bad in that dress. It’s hard not to second-guess myself after such a harsh comment.

I’ve always believed in standing up for myself, but now I’m questioning whether it’s worth the conflict. My self-esteem has taken a hit, and I’m torn between letting it go for the sake of peace or addressing the disrespect and cruelty of his actions.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? How did you handle it? Should I confront him again or try to move past it? I’m looking for advice on how to navigate this hurtful situation. What would you do in my shoes?
