My Ex-husband Ripped off the Wallpaper After Our Divorce Because ‘He Paid for It’ – Karma Had a Joke in Store for Him

My ex-husband used to say, “It’s just harmless fun,” about his infidelity. But when he tore up my wallpaper after our divorce, karma had her own plans.

I used to think karma was just something people said to feel better after being hurt. But trust me, it’s real. And in my case? It had a wicked sense of humor.

Dan and I were married for eight years. I thought we had it all — a home, kids, a life. But I was wrong. The night I found out about his affair, I was looking for medicine for our sick daughter, Emma, and found a heart emoji on his phone. The texts from “Jessica” shattered me. His response? “It was harmless fun.”

I tried to forgive him once, but after his second betrayal, I couldn’t. I filed for divorce, and while the house was mine, Dan demanded a 50/50 split of everything else. But the worst moment was when he gave up full custody of the kids without a second thought. He just didn’t care.

A week later, when I came back home, he had destroyed the house. The beautiful wallpaper was gone, torn off the walls. The kids were devastated, and I had no words. It wasn’t just the wallpaper; he’d taken anything he bought with his own money.

A month later, I joined a book club for support. One night, after a few glasses of wine, I shared the wallpaper story. My friend Cassie couldn’t stop laughing. Then, months later, I saw her walking down the street — with Dan. Turns out, they were engaged. When Cassie realized who I was, she confronted Dan about his childish destruction.

“You’re a walking red flag,” she told him, leaving him stunned and alone.

When I got home, the kids were happy with our new wallpaper. Jack said, “I’m glad we picked out the new ones together. Daddy can keep that wallpaper to himself!”

Karma had done its job. Sometimes, you don’t need to chase revenge. Just wait, and it’ll come in the most poetic way.
