In-Law Billed Me $695 for Moth Damage after Using My House like a Storage Unit – I Gave Her a Reality Check

Andy and Sarah had stored Sarah’s parents’ belongings in their guest bedroom for five years. When they discovered they were pregnant, they asked her parents to remove their things, causing tension but also leading to an unexpected reward.

Five years ago, Sarah’s parents downsized and needed storage for their keepsakes. Andy and Sarah, having a spare guest room, agreed to help. Over time, the room filled with more items, turning it into a storage unit.

When Sarah found out she was pregnant, they decided the guest room would become the nursery. They asked her parents to clear their belongings, but they didn’t take it well. The situation worsened when a moth-damaged fur coat sparked a heated argument, leading to Sarah’s parents moving their things out begrudgingly.

Despite the friction, Sarah’s father later apologized and handed Andy a check for $9,000, compensating them for the storage space. They used it to prepare a beautiful nursery for their baby.
