I Won Tickets for a Romantic Getaway, and upon Arriving at the Hotel, I Realized That a Terrible Mistake Had Occurred — Story of the Day

At 43, Megan’s routine life as a devoted wife takes an unexpected turn. A surprise romantic present for her husband makes her realize that she needs some time alone. She decides to go on a solo trip without him, but on the first night at the hotel, she is woken up by a stranger opening her door.

Every day for over ten years, Megan woke up early to make breakfast for her husband, Neil, and pack his lunch for work. However, a surprise trip to Florida changed everything. Neil’s disinterest in the trip led Megan to go alone. Upon arriving at the hotel, she fell into a deep sleep but was startled awake by someone opening her door. In a panic, she grabbed a lamp and hit the intruder, only to realize it was Thomas, another guest mistakenly given her room. They called the front desk, but with no other rooms available, they decided to share the room. This unexpected encounter changed Megan’s life forever.
