I Learned Our Youngest Son Was Not Mine but Said Nothing – Story of the Day

I was married to Lucy for 27 years, but it wasn’t a happy marriage. Lucy, once a sunny and beautiful girl, became angry and bitter over time. She dreamed of fame but ended up marrying me after she got pregnant. We had our first son, Alan, but Lucy was never a devoted mother.

Lucy focused on auditions and got a small part in a soap opera. Then, at 35, she became pregnant again and was furious, fearing it would ruin her career. She had the baby, Kyle, who had beautiful blue eyes, unlike us. I loved him deeply.

One day, when Kyle was four, Lucy screamed, “I’m too busy pretending that you’re his father!” That moment confirmed my suspicion about Kyle’s paternity, but I never brought it up again.

Years later, Kyle had a motorcycle accident and discovered our blood types didn’t match. Realizing he wasn’t my biological son, he asked, “Have you always known?” I replied, “Because I loved you more than I hated what your mother had done.” We kept this secret, and it brought us closer.

1. Love is what makes the bond between parent and child, not biology.
2. A secret will always come out sooner or later.
