Dad of teen accused of stabbing star football player claims son wasn’t ’aggressor’

A tragic incident at a Texas track meet has left 17-year-old Austin Metcalf dead and sparked national debate.

Karmelo Anthony, 17, is accused of stabbing Austin during a brief argument over seating. Karmelo’s father, Andrew, insists his son acted in self-defense, portraying him as a hardworking student, not a violent aggressor. Austin’s family, however, is devastated, questioning how a minor dispute led to murder.

Karmelo has been charged with first-degree murder, and a fundraiser for him has raised over $143,000. As the case unfolds, both families struggle with the pain of loss, and the case has sparked discussions on youth violence and justice.
