Son Uninvites Mom to Wedding for Refusing to Gift Him $8300 — Story of the Day

Rick, the only boy in a family of six girls, expected a large cash gift from his mother for his wedding but was bitterly disappointed.

Rick Gordon, getting married, was the only one who believed he was ready for such a commitment. Spoiled but charming, Rick was the family’s pet, with his six sisters often indulging him. His mother, Carmen, loved him but knew he needed to grow up.

Two weeks before the wedding, Rick casually asked Carmen for $8,300—the cost of his sister’s wedding dresses. Carmen was shocked by his demand and refused, pointing out his irresponsibility and past mistakes. Enraged, Rick uninvited her from the wedding.

The wedding proceeded without Carmen, as Rick’s father and sisters also refused to attend. After the honeymoon, Rick admitted to his wife, Sandy, that he missed his family. Sandy urged him to apologize.

Rick called Carmen, admitted his mistakes, and apologized. Carmen, with tears in her eyes, forgave him. A week later, the family gathered for dinner at Rick and Sandy’s, making it the best wedding celebration ever.
