Popular Butter Brand Recalled as FDA Issues Its Official Classification

Cabot Creamery’s 8oz Sea Salted Extra Creamy Butter has been pulled from shelves in seven states after tests revealed elevated coliform bacteria levels. Though the FDA classified the recall as low-risk (Class III), it’s the latest in a string of food safety issues. Only 17 packages made it to stores—all in Vermont—and no illnesses have been reported.
