My Wife Gave Me a List of Demands in Exchange for Her Future Pregnancy – I Gave Her a Reality Check

When my wife handed me a list of demands, including a pricey car and a tattoo, in exchange for getting pregnant, I was floored. It felt transactional, reducing a life-changing event to an exchange. So, I arranged a meeting with a lawyer, turning her demands into a profound reality check.

My wife and I have been together for eight years and married for one. We’ve always supported each other. She’s focused on her career, but baby talk has increased, nudged by her mom about her “biological clock.”

One Saturday, over breakfast, she casually mentioned wanting to start a family but had conditions. She handed me a list: a new, expensive car and a tattoo of her and our future child’s names. I was shocked. She explained, “Pregnancy and childbirth will change my body forever. I want to feel appreciated.”

I set up a meeting with a lawyer to show her the reality of raising a child. As she read the contract, her excitement turned to contemplation. She realized the magnitude of what we were about to embark on.

In the end, we understood that our journey wasn’t about material rewards. It was about the life and love we’d create together. We decided to face the future together, with love and mutual respect guiding us. The real reward would be the family we’d start.
