My daughter’s pregnancy announcement at my birthday party was shocking, but finding out the father was my close friend and mechanic, Mike, turned my world upside down. Now, I’m torn between anger and the possibility that he genuinely cares for her.
I’m Dave, a 49-year-old manager at a car repair shop. My daughter, Kira, is 19 and recently got into her dream university. During my birthday BBQ with friends, Kira arrived, visibly upset, and told me she was pregnant. When she pointed to Mike, I was furious.
“Dad, I need to talk to you,” Kira said, her eyes red from crying. “Dad, I’m pregnant,” she blurted out. “It’s him,” she said, pointing straight at Mike. “We’ve been together for months,” she pleaded.
Kira later explained that Mike sold his car and grandmother’s house to pay for her tuition. “He did it because he loves me and our baby,” she said. “Mike isn’t a bad person. He’s always treated me with respect.”
My wife, Sarah, urged me to consider forgiving Mike. “Maybe it’s time to let go of the anger,” she said softly. “Think about what’s best for Kira and the baby.”
I’m reaching out to you, readers. Should I forgive Mike and support my daughter, or should I stand my ground? Your thoughts and advice would mean a lot right now.
