Mariah Carey is mourning a profound loss, having lost her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, on the same day. “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother,” Carey shared, adding, “Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”

Patricia Carey, a Juilliard-trained opera singer, passed on her musical talent to Mariah, though their relationship was complicated. Mariah’s sister, Alison, faced a troubled life marked by addiction and legal disputes. Their relationship had been strained, with Mariah revealing past trauma inflicted by Alison. In her last days, Alison reconnected with her children, bringing her some peace. Although their lives were fraught with challenges, both women remained deeply important to Mariah.
