I Visited My Ex-wife’s House and Saw My Kids Fundraising — When I Found Out What for, My Heart Sank

While visiting my ex-wife Goldie’s house, I was caught off guard by a cookie sale hosted by my kids. I had stopped by to pick up some documents, but I was greeted by Sarah and Jack at a fundraising table with cookies priced at three dollars each.

Sarah explained, “We’re raising money for a special cause, Daddy.” But when I noticed Goldie wasn’t around, I went inside to check.

Goldie, flustered, admitted she didn’t know the kids were fundraising. We started arguing but decided to join the kids outside.

Jack’s innocent revelation shocked me: “We’re raising money to buy a new Daddy!” Sarah added, “Mommy said Daddy is sick, so we need a new one.”

Goldie and I were devastated. We reassured the kids that we’re still their parents and that nothing will change our love for them. We explained that the divorce wasn’t their fault and brainstormed a new fundraising idea to help others instead.

Goldie suggested ice cream to lift the mood, and the kids’ faces lit up.
