Church Shooting in Kentucky Leaves Two Women Dead After Police Chase

A tragic incident unfolded on July 13, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky, when a police traffic stop escalated into a deadly shooting. After a state trooper was wounded during the stop, the suspect fled, carjacked a vehicle, and drove to Richmond Road Baptist Church. There, he opened fire on people gathered at the church, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries before being fatally shot by police.

The victims were identified as Christina Combs, 34, and Beverly Gumm, 72. Two men were also injured, with one in critical condition. Authorities believe the suspect may have had a personal connection to someone at the church, though the exact motive remains under investigation. The church community, known for its closeness, has been deeply shaken by the sudden violence.
