My Husband Spent $3150 on Gifts for His Family but I Was Shocked to See His Gifts for Me & My Family

Hi, Mia here. Family Day was always full of surprises, but this year’s gift-giving had a twist. Married for years, my husband and I celebrate Family Day with both our families, exchanging gifts we buy separately. This year, I found his list: expensive gifts for his family, and a cheap “something from Target” for me.

Standing in our closet, holding the list, I felt a mix of anger and disbelief. While I’d saved for months to buy him a luxurious watch, he barely considered my gift. So, I came up with a plan.

On Family Day, I gave thoughtful gifts to everyone, saving his for last. Expecting the watch, he found a simple mirror with a note: “Reflect on the value you place on those who love and cherish you.” The realization hit him hard.

The room was silent, and my husband stuttered an excuse, which only highlighted his mistake. His own mother gave him a disappointed look. After the party, he admitted his fault. We agreed to discuss our values and expectations.

The next morning, I saw him searching for “thoughtful gift ideas.” It wasn’t much, but it was a start. Maybe next year, he’ll think twice before writing “something from Target.”
