My Best Friend Kicked Me Out of Her Wedding After the Groom Took the Mic and Pointed at Me

At my best friend Lily’s wedding, I was excited to celebrate her big day. She and I had been close since middle school, and I’d even been chosen as a bridesmaid. Lily had meticulously planned every detail, including the non-matching dresses for her bridesmaids. I chose a yellow dress, which Lily loved and said would make me look like Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

The day was perfect until the reception, when Lily surprised everyone with a blacklight dance party. Suddenly, people started staring at me, and the music stopped. Matt, the groom, accused me of sabotaging the wedding by trying to steal the spotlight with my glowing yellow dress, which looked white under the blacklights. Lily demanded I leave, and I was escorted out, confused and heartbroken.

Later, I texted Lily to apologize, explaining that I hadn’t known about the blacklights. She blocked me on all social media, and I was cut off from her life. A week later, I received a photo of me glowing under the blacklights, with the note, “Thanks for the memories.”

I’ll never fully understand why it happened, but I learned that a dress shouldn’t destroy a friendship. After years of loyalty, I deserved better.
