My Entitled Ex-landlord Refuses to Return a Washing Machine and Dishwasher I Bought — I Taught Him a Good Lesson

When Paige moved into her apartment, she noticed it lacked a washing machine and dishwasher. She bought her own, but when she tried to take them upon moving out, her ex-landlord, Mr. Robinson, refused, leading to a showdown.

Mr. Robinson shrugged off her concerns about the missing appliances: “You can always use the laundromat down the street.” Paige, working late nights, bought her own appliances, despite the expense. When she moved out, Mr. Robinson claimed the appliances as part of the apartment. Paige stood firm: “I bought them with my own money. They’re mine.”

Frustrated, Paige enlisted her friend Kevin’s help. They removed the essential parts from the appliances, leaving only the shells. Mr. Robinson soon called, desperate: “I’ll return your full security deposit and give you an additional $200 for the inconvenience.”

Paige met him, retrieved the money, and revealed missing parts. “Consider this a lesson from a ‘stupid waitress’ in respecting other people’s property,” she said, leaving him speechless. Paige felt triumphant, knowing Mr. Robinson had learned his lesson. She celebrated her victory with Kevin, toasting to new beginnings and no more Mr. Robinson.
