After a grueling 12-hour shift at the hospital, nurse Lauren came home to an unsettling sight. Expecting a quiet evening, she was shocked to find her mugs turned upside down and the silverware rearranged.
“All my mugs were turned upside down, perfectly lined up,” Lauren said. She discovered a crumpled note with the words, “You’ll thank me later – you needed this,” which added to her unease.
She called her husband Hank in a panic, who advised her to stay on the phone while he rushed home with the kids. As she searched the house, Lauren found the entire kitchen and bathroom eerily organized. A noise from her son’s room made her heart race, but it turned out to be nothing.
Suddenly, Lauren heard keys jangling and saw their landlady, Mrs. Winslow, entering the house. “I was just tidying up a bit,” Mrs. Winslow explained nonchalantly.
Lauren called the police, who were familiar with Mrs. Winslow’s intrusive behavior. “She has this habit of ‘helping’ tenants,” the officer said. Lauren decided not to press charges but changed the locks for added security.
