Son Runs Away from Home at 16, Comes Back at 29 to Find Only a Note in Deserted House – Story of the Day

At 16, Joey left home to chase his dreams, leaving a note for his mother Flora. “I finally decided to run away,” Joey wrote. Despite his love for her, he felt he needed to leave the rural life behind to pursue his ambition of becoming a doctor.

Years later, now a doctor, Joey returned home to find his house deserted. He discovered a half-burnt note from Flora, revealing her heartache. “I wish you had never left me,” it read.

Desperate to find her, Joey learned from a neighbor that Flora had been hospitalized. Rushing to her side, Joey was overjoyed to see her awake. “JOEY…my boy!” Flora cried.

Joey apologized for his long absence, sharing his journey and his plan to rebuild the farm. Flora agreed to move in with him in the city. Reunited, they were determined not to be apart again.
