Bar Waitress Texts with Stranger, Posing as Woman He Met There Once, until He Asks Her out — Story of the Day

Nelly is desperate to find love but fears she’ll never meet the right person. Observing others around her finding love, she notices a man being ditched by another girl at the bar. Nelly decides to leave him a note, pretending to be the other girl, to get a chance to talk to him.

At the counter of a local bar, Nelly, a thirty-year-old waitress, wipes glasses and chats with Ron, the bartender. Ron teases her about her reluctance to go clubbing, go on blind dates, or use dating sites, yet she still hopes to find her prince charming.

One night, Nelly sees Peter, a kind-looking man, trying to flirt with a woman who only wants free cocktails. When the woman leaves, Nelly writes a note, pretending to be her, and leaves it for Peter. Peter messages her, thinking she’s the other girl. Despite feeling guilty, Nelly continues the deception, and they agree to meet, leading to an unexpected twist of honesty and potential new beginnings.
