Wife Promises to Give Dying Husband’s Letter to Daughter, Changes Her Mind upon Reading It after His Death

A woman grieving her husband denied him his last wish of giving their daughter his letter after he had passed on. Now, she is wondering if she was wrong for doing so.

Three years ago, a woman took to Reddit to ask if she was wrong for keeping something from her daughter that her late husband had asked her to share. Her husband, diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in 2019, had only six months to live but survived for nine. During that time, he wrote letters to their daughters for significant occasions, asking his wife to deliver them when the time came.

Years after his death, the woman couldn’t part with the letter for her eldest daughter’s wedding. She read it and felt his presence, unable to give it up. When her daughter found the letter while packing, she was furious and accused her mother of being selfish. Reddit users overwhelmingly sided with the daughter, calling the woman a thief and selfish.
