I Thought It Was Just Rice — But the Truth Was Far Worse

I woke up and noticed small white grains on the bedsheet, initially thinking my husband had spilled rice, but their oval, shiny shape made me pause, and then one moved, revealing they were bedbug eggs.

About 1 millimeter long, slightly shiny, and laid in hidden spots like mattress seams or furniture cracks, they hatch within 6 to 10 days and can cause itching, allergic reactions, and sleepless nights.

Bedbugs often hitch rides in luggae, used furniture, or second-hand clothing and can spread quickly in apartments, making early detection crucial. I immediately followed expert advice:

deep-cleaning the room, vacuuming thoroughly and discarding the bag, washing bedding and clothes in hot water at 140°F (60°C), steam cleaning mattresses and furniture, and calling a certified pest control service to ensure none survived.

Had I ignored them, my home could have been overrun within a week. The key takeaway is to notice tiny details like these grains and act fast to prevent a serious infestation.
